Queen should have split after "The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert". Give Freddie a nice send off, then quit.

Brian May was as much a part of the sound of queen as freddie was, why deny fans to opportunity to witness brian playing those iconic guitar sounds playing Queen songs?

At least Queen had the decency to call it just Queen & Paul Rodgers and Queen & Adam Lambert and didn’t just straight up call the band “Queen”

John Deacon was their George Harrison. He didn’t write as many songs, but the ones he did write were HUGE hits. Without Freddie and John, no way I’m seeing them live.

Music must always play on no matter who dies! No one is above the music playing on!!! If you want the first singer to be the only singer in Queen then stop going to Queen’s shows. But the music must never stop and no rules should ever stop the music from bring played.

They were a unique, excellent band, and as you say, equally talented and a great conglomeration, but also as you say, once they lost Freddie, they would never be the same. I can't imagine this band without Freddie's voice and his piano talent.

That's why I love Led Zeppelin! They recognized that they wouldn't be the same without Bonham and stopped performing altogether... We all know of their unfortunate Live Aid "reunion", but I think the most successful Zeppelin reunion was in 2007 with Jason Bonham...

When I heard their first album, I immediately bought the 8-track tape, took a day off work and listened to it over and over all day. Nothing ever stunned me like that before or since.

Freddie was a gift and cannot be replaced BUT Brian May is and has always be a huge part of the band. I.would gladly see Queen now just to see May play guitar!

Brian and Roger released an album with Paul Rodgers, THE COSMOS ROCKS, after Roger Taylor said, "We're in danger of becoming our own tribute band." But with only two Queen songwriters left, it just didn't work. And them with Adam Lambert...well, they certainly have the RIGHT to continue, but it's not the same.

John Deacon had it right and retired after the tribute concert and Freddie's death..

You have made the excellent point some bands can continue and why some bands just shouldn't.

If you don't have the original lineup then, you simply aren't seeing the true band. I'm a fan of Queen but, no I wouldn't see them now.

Technically, Brian and Roger are touring as Queen+, not Queen. So personally, I don’t really see a problem

I always loved Queen. I thought their music was larger than life. Their songs made me feel like I was part of the music.

Essentially, they were no longer Queen after Mercury died. They used the name Queen but the magic was gone. They should have regrouped under a different name but of course, the suits would have insisted on milking the brand name for the easy buck. Musical integrity be damned.

So true! Well said. Freddie was not Queen; they all were. That's why I don't like the over-exposure of Freddie in popular media.

I never got Queen but they became huge.
