I love the image of a Russian being inside of Sputnik with a telescope being people's worst fear 💀

Fun fact! Even though people all over the world could pick up Sputnik's beeps on any common radio, no one could actually tell where it was.
No one, that is, except for Jodrell Bank Radio Space Telescope in the UK. So both the US and the USSR came cap in hand to Jodrell Bank to ask where the first artificial sattelite actually was.

Panic: The zombie is at the door.
Panic: They smash it off the hinges.
Confusion: They ask if you want to help seize the means of production.

Karl Marx standing there, literally washing a brain menacingly is hilarious.

If I had a nickel for every time this channel connected a Cold War era film to a real historical event, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

My favorite trivia about Night of the Living Dead is that it's in the public domain out of freak accident.

So...space zombies. Even as a concept, _that_ definitely never leads to disaster! 😆

Interestingly enough, the Soviets sent many probes to Venus, giving us our current understanding of it, and bringing us one step closer to arguably the most practical yet scifi-ish offworld colonies: Venusian cloud cities.

What's nuts is that, according to Romero, the day he finished editing the film, was the day of MLK assassination. And no one would ever think "what an interesting cold war allegory"😂😂

What I find hilarious is that the Soviets were accused of brainwashing when it was the Americans that tried doing that with MK Ultra

Night of the Living Dead is also a commentary on racism and definitely influenced by the increase of racial justice in the 1960s. Not to spoil it but you should definitely watch it
