I had this surgery done earlier this month. Life changing! I've never, ever been able to breathe fully through my nose. I breathe though my mouth 95 percent of the time. I cried about a week after surgery when I realized how much better I could breathe. Just life changing. If you're on the fence, consult with your ENT and do it.

It's been three day's since I got it done. The build up of blood in my nose makes it hard for me to talk without it hurting. But that's the only real pain I have. My only 2 worries are 1. I smoke, and still am and 2. The whole putting me to sleep bit before the surgery. But I fell asleep before I could even count down from 10 and woke up in the recovery room. It was a great experience for a surgery. And I'm hoping any I have to have in future go the exact same way. I will update this after the 2 week mark to let everyone know how the healing process went or if the pain gets worse. But for now, I'm so glad I did it

Update: the only thing that is really annoying is the smell of old blood. The pain is still bearable. And everything is fine for now.

Update: it is now day 4 and I can finally breath through both my nostrils (something I haven't been able to do ever) I'm so glad I got this done!!

Update: it’s been a year now and I still feel great. No issues at all with the surgery. Obviously I still get allergies time to time but apart from that I feel completely different when it comes to breathing. I have to mention I can still feel scaring in my nose. Apart from that tho, completely changed my life and is 110% worth the first two weeks

Had my Septoplasty and Turbinate reduction done yesterday.. I have no pain and slight swelling. The worst part has been the stuffiness and cleaning up the discharge.(like you have with a sinus infection) I have the splints in, no discomfort or pain..Today I feel fine, still dripping a little.. For the best success and lowest risk of ENS/exterior membrane damage to the Turbinates have the microdebrider procedure done, the cauterize/radiowave methods have a history of issues (have a complete understanding of each method)...I don't regret having it done..Do your research on the Surgeon and the way they reduce the Turbinates and you'll have success ..:)

I have had this surgery and unfortunately it messed up my nose, can’t smell well with my right nostril and the turbinate started to swallow occasionally so one nostril is blocked while other can pass air easily but at the same time it gets really dry so the crust builds up and after the nose bleeds. If you want to enjoy the smells as you now and you don’t have completely blocked nose passage please consider septoplasty or sinoplasty first and consult with multiple doctors

I got mine done last week. It’s been great. I’m unlucky with having throat pain from the tubes though.

I had this done about 6 years ago. Felt great then but have lots of trouble breathing out of my nose again. Is it possible for them to grow back and obstruct that quickly?

Just had septoplasty and turbinate reduction. Procedure about 9hrs ago went well, felt like I was drunk coming out of anesthesia, (1st time having general anesthesia) so far no pain. I’m taking the medication that they prescribed me. Now just got to keep following the post-procedures and let time do it’s work.

PS. I was told before the procedure that there is a 2% chance something going wrong, I was like that’s nothing I drive a lot in LA, my chances are higher getting in an car accident. 🤣🤣

I've had three turbinate surgeries. The ENT will put packing in the nostril(s) to soak up blood. So you are breathing through your mouth. I had a very uncomfortable sensation of asphyxia when dropping off to sleep. I couldn't sleep for 48 hours, until they pulled out the packing. I would imagine this sensation is something like being waterboarded.

Turbinates are an essential organ and surgery should only be considered for life threatening reasons. Change to anti inflammatory diet, invest in hepa filters/change filters in the home or auto, get rid of toxic chemicals in the home, furniture with formaldehyde, get rid of hidden mold, check for hormonal imbalances/gut health. You only get one nose in your lifetime. Once something goes wrong Ents have no way of reversing the severe damages that aren't thoroughly discussed pre op.

20 years ago, my surgeon removed this so called turbin bone in my nose. The biggest problem I continuously have to deal with is my running nose when I move from cold weather into a warm place. I have to keep drying my nose until I adjust to the inside room temperature. I would not have done it, if I knew this serious problem.

I had this surgery, but it did not provide any long term relief of my symptoms.

My ent suggested I do this even though I had a ct scan done and my turbinates are of normal size 🤷 he suggested Septoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery

Had this done and ruined my life. Turbinates are not simple pieces of flesh. ENTs Drs do not go into depth about the severe consequences of resperitory issues and various other organs that could be impacted negatively long term when these surgeries go south. Even with minimal reductions. Say no to unecessary non life threatening turbinate reduction procedures. Treat the root cause.
