After an unexpected heart attack, Bruce Simon recognized that he was "a very sick man." His doctor suggested that he may need a transplant and recommended Stanford. When Dr. Banerjee met with Bruce, he wanted to try putting Bruce on a low sodium diet first: "Nothing out of a can, nothing out of a bag, nothing out of a box, and no processed foods." Within two to three weeks, Bruce was showing dramatic improvement.

I will always be thankful to the people at Stanford for all they did for dad. He was so proud of the dramatic improvement in his health that you helped him achieve. His spirits were lifted every time he visited Palo Alto. Thank you. And thank you for having this video so I can see my dad happy and healthy before the cancer that took his life. He was honored to be in it, and he hoped that it helped change other people's lives like it did his.

Dad could not speak highly enough about everyone at Stanford. The staff, the doctors, everyone. He had so much respect for Dr. Banerjee and Dr. Fowler. They are not just great doctors, they are great people who care about their patients.

I'm so happy for this man! I started my no salt diet yesterday.
I've been eating a very low fat diet, no processed foods, etc.anyway.
But I've still been consuming celtic sea salt. I hope I can lose all the fluid and gain heart function back. 🙁
Can't exercise at the moment though. Too weak and breathless.

Im in my 30s and I had a similarly remarkable result from a DASH-like diet. Full remission of NAFLD, no longer hypertensive and down 60lbs with no cravings for junk food. Not only that but whole foods actually taste better now, I will crave fish and green beans instead of burgers and fries.

processed food is the answer, not the salt.

I am a heart patient and I would benefit greatly from eating fish. Fish is loaded with good nutrients for my heart.  Though, every package of frozen fish that I look at has way too much sodium for me to eat it.  When I look at the ingredients, they all contain STPP.  The STPP makes the sodium level five to ten times what it normally is and it is only there to absorb water making the fish heavy.  How can we be leaders in health and welfare of our people when we allow this wanton use of STPP just to make money on the unsuspecting consumers?

Nothing out of a can, nothing out of a bag, nothing out of a box. No processed foods. Ever wondered whether it was the elimination of processed foods, and not the salt restriction, that helped him?

Heart disease comes from metabolic disease which comes from excess polyunsaturated fats, specifically linoleic acid, primarily from *seed oils, * not too much sodium. Good lord

Great story do you have a book of recipes for low sodium diet? People are just too lazy to make a change that can save their lives.

People add more sodium to our diets hmmmm why because sodium is very essential to our bodies also we need more iodine in our diets and if you are afraid of high sodium add more potassium.Western medicine has all the electrolytes backwards.

It's nice to see in the comments how people stop believing the "scientific" nonsense.
