The Volkswagen works council criticised the executive board for suggesting plant closures and threatening job security, as Volkswagen's Chief Financial Officer says the company may not survive the transition to electric cars unless it cuts costs.

VW enjoyed 30 years ride in China as the leading car manufacturer. On good years they can sell over 2 millions vehicles there. They didn't spend effort to convert some of the profit to technology advance. China is the biggest market, the biggest producer, and biggest innovation center for car industry in the past 10 years and how could VW missed that entirely?
