I've been fly fishing for years, but have really just started targeting bass. If I could pass along anything, try to reduce the number of false casts. Like you found out when you had a knot in your line, even imperfect casts can produce fish, so play every cast like you're going to hook up. The second thing, try not put your hand above the cork handle, it changes the intended flex of the rod and can cause the rod to break.

I love fly fishing. I bring it when I go fishing for catfish for something to do while I wait! Always amazes my friends as they never fly fished before. I always offer to teach them cause it's really not that hard! Awesome video man

Just got my first fly setup today and some gear. Took it out before sunset because I couldn’t wait, and to my surprise, it wasn’t too difficult. I was mentally struggling thinking I’d never get good at it but it was fairly simple with a few minor tweaks I read and watched. Needless to say I caught 2 bluegill and a bass out a pond. That’s a golden start for me!

I had a TFO BVK back in like 2013 and I LOVED it! It was a 6weight and I got to bring in some huge smallies on the reel. One of the best days of fishing of my life. When I joined the military I didn’t have the locations to use it so I sold the whole outfit :/. Something is badass about holding a rod that weighs like a feather and dragging in a large bass on it! Hope to get back into it someday. For no I use a lews Mach 1 baitcasting rig when I have time to go out
