Last week's installation challenge had us splitting out the data cable from an EV Ultra cable. We had to find a way of connecting a data cable to route to an EV charger. Searching the CPC catalogue we found this end to end RJ45 connector with an IP68 rating.

The cable in the video looks like normal pvc sheathed data cable. If the cable is going to get wet and/or be outside it would be better to use external grade data cable which has a polyethylene sheath which provides better water & uv protection.

I noticed you stripped the cable pretty far back is there a reason for this? I know that the proper waterproof cables can be quite expensive, and in my experience I just cut a little more than what I need.

Why did you put the end connector so far back from the splice on the wire? Seems like a way to end up losing a significant amount of cable over a long enough time frame

Would have been handy for protecting camera comms doing broadcasts for surf comps. Nothing like a connector swimming in a rock pool to kill a headset and tally.

Finally someone else who unwinds the pairs with a screwdriver. It’s so much faster and straightens them out lol

We use these in the field for our radio production trucks. Very nice connectors and you don’t have to cut the connector, to get it out of the box.

You make the rj45 connector look so easy, then again my first time was 160 feet in the air and in the middle of winter.

It’s so much cooler when there is an existed use-case at hand and something doesn’t have to be needlessly destroyed/wasted for presentation purposes.

Надо было не 10 см зачистить, а полметра.

I just found the clicks and snaps in this video to be very satisfying.

I must say, this man is the best in crimping an RJ45 😱

А че так мало витой пары оголил, всего-то полметра? Нужно было еще чуток, а то для конектора совсем мало.

Having used a lot of these, I can confirm they are not completely water tight, I class them as rain proof but I'd never let one be submerged for any length of time and always ensure that water runs away from them down the cable.

Honestly I do like the video, but I wish the connect lead to a screen with HE-MAN shouting, "I HAVE THE POWER!" 🤣🤣🤣
