Stonehenge is popular because there is a main road running close to it. There is an older (by a thousand years or so) in the Orkney Islands off the North of Scotland. Even better and a big big bonus: It is FREE to visit the site.

OMG I cannot believe they actually thought we mowed the gress for the sake of it looking good for the tourists. The clue was in the name girls 'natural'. We maintain places of historical importance because they are our heritage. The fact that tourist come to see them because they are so well preserved is a bonus. The UK is NOT one giant theme park. Its beauty, heritage and recorded history goes back over 1000 yrs before America became a known place.

I live in the UK in the south east, in Kent, i am just 30 mins from the countryside, 30 mins from Leeds Castle voted 1 of the most beautiful castles in the world, i have visited a number of times, 1 hour from London, and 40 mins from the Sea, so i have the best of all worlds, and the countryside is breath taking during the late spring, summer, and early autumn.

No, they don't need to mow the grass, they have cows and sheep to do that! Also, the info about Mt. Snowdon was totally wrong. If it was over 10, 000m it would be higher than Mt. Everest. He got his meters and feet mixed up. Anyway, cheers from the UK!
