BTO Bird ID - Mandarin Duck & Wood Duck

Показать описание
Despite being non-native, these stunningly beautiful birds are commonly encountered and can cause confusion. Mandarins are frequent and breeding in the wild with a well-established population. Wood Duck, commonly kept in collections, can also be found. Breeding Wood Duck have occurred although the species is probably not established. Males are easy to identify but the females are confusingly similar.

Thank you Su Gough these are very good, natural and well-spoken -- I wonder if you could use these to reach out to people who don't understand English -- Chinese subtitles? I am conscious we need to build up a green consciousness more strongly around the world.

Great addition to the series, always wonder what bird will be next and it's always a pleasant surprise. Added to our playlist.

In korea, we called that bird 'won-ang'. Symbol of true love.
In Korea, won-ang is famous as a bird who loves only one lover all his life.
In Korea, there is a tradition of presenting won-ang carved in wood to newlyweds as a symbol of true love.

For reference, the colorful won-ang in New York's Central Park is male.
