people making the excuse that “it was a different time” need to realize that the era it occurred in doesn’t change anything even if it was normalized. he could have been interested in her in 306 B.C and it would still be weird, because at the end of the day, a fourteen year old is still so far from being fully developed compared to a 20 something year old who is. hell, she wasn’t even halfway through puberty when he started taking interest in her as a GROWN MAN. that is weird.

You know why people aren't more upset about the age of Priscilla and elvis from 1959? Because it happened all the time back then. I heard so many personal stories from older women meeting their husband while they were still teens. It's not acceptable by today's standards. It wasn't 100% acceptable back then either but definitely not to the degree it is today.
I really think people should get upset when it happens today. Not for a woman who has had an incredible life and regrets nothing.

I read they met when she was 14, he was 24 but she didn't move to the US to live with him until she was 16yrs old. Still that's way too young & he would've been 26 by then. No way I'd let my child do that!

I don't understand why you're all getting upset over something that happened 60+ years ago. It happened, her parents knew he was older, but still let her continue seeing him.
