I tried one of these "tours" from Shanghai to HK. The best part is I met a young, Chinese girl and countered these tour guides trying to make the other people buy. I never took a travel tour in China again.

This practice is not right. If you expect tourists to buy stuff, then you should put it in writing and let them know. We now have internet and we don't need tour guides, so all you tour guides will lose your jobs.

The problem with these family is their mortgage. Mortgage = no saving for a family with kids. They have no safety net when one parent lost a job. Me, l have a fully paid house, no mortgage in China and have million of RMB saved in the bank, living a 1st tier city. We are currently living of the interest and i CAN retire, but the my job is too high of a salary to quit and retire and all the benefits it provide. Furthermore, l can earn extra during my time off; 1:1 The main adv is that Im a foreigner and can speak some Chinese. That alone, makes me top 10%.
