Apparently Webber was wide awake and at a Formula E event in the UK with Zac Brown. That kind of blows half this story. Alonso’s timing is impeccable if he was giving the middle finger to alpine one day too late to keep piastri. Webber and Alonso are friends. Far more likely Webber is the evil genius behind all of this- rather than asleep.

I think it was Ocon that started all this. I mean, if you are Alonso and your team mate is so desperate to keep you behind that he would rather make both cars loose several positions just to beat you. And than fails to do so anyway.. That is so idiotic that I would not be able to live with that. If than the team doesn't react to this madness than there is only one thing left to do. Go to a team that is actually a ''team''.

If I were Ricciardo, I'd stay silent until the end of the month, just to piss people off.

And around the time of this dropping, Piastri's McLaren seat had been approved by the highest contract dispute body in F1 and Riccardo will be leaving at the end of the season for him

Webber wasn't in Australia, he was front & center last weekend in London at the Formula E race.

I like how Otmar put it in regard to Daniel rejoining Alpine where he essentially said Alonso jumps back and forth between teams all the time that’s just racing.

Difficult CEO and double whammy announcements aside for Alpine, we gotta acknowledge Otmar Szafnauer for keeping it classy.

I love F1. The drama is as fun and as the racing.

There is so much wrong information on this video that I don't even know where to start. Webber was not sleeping on the job and Piastri IS NOT contracted to drive for Alpine in 2023 as vetted by the FIA legal team. What are you even talking about? The whole premise of this video is literally false.

Amazing how people have opinions and draw conclusions on issues they know shit about...

I think they announced him as the driver because I think they thought he would just do it, I think they missed the clause or assumed he wouldn't talk to anyone else

I understand the FIA ultimate judges have now sided with Piastri against the position of Alpine?

Alpine had no intention to extend Alonso past one year. They would "evaluate" Alonso for 2024 but never had the intention of keeping Alonso for 2024 and Alonso knew that. They took it for granted Piastri would drive Alpine. Alonso is a veteran and knows the treacherous nature of formula 1 teams so he gave Alpine the finger and signed for Racing point. I applaud him for that. And Alpine gets their just deserts when Piastri said thanks for all the help and testing but I like MClaren better. See ya. Hahahaha. The pirhana club at it's worse.

Alonso to Aston Martin and Piastri to McLaren is all done. What's not confirmed is Daniel's situation.

So what if Piastri doesn't driver for McLaren for 2023. Main focus is to make Renault unstable. McLaren, Piastri, Webber and Alonso pulled this smoothly. El plan!

i would much rather see danny ric back at alpine than stay at mclaren after he gets his 20 plus million dollar hand shake from zac. did anyone see danny ric do the burnout in the company mclaren not long after piastri was confirmed his smile was priceless imagine danny ric in an alpine passing lando and giving him a wave passing piastri and giving him the finger passing by zac brown ang giving him a thanks for 20 million dollars priceless

Good thing they threw a long contract at Ocon after he inherited a race win last year lol. Would have been better to have Alonso and Piastri together.

I do not know what Piastri is driving next year, but one thing I know, Mark Weber is not stupid

I have no sympathy for Alpine. Alonso had been performing really well and his desire, demand, for a year at no risk to him was not unreasonable. At the same time they were dilly dallying with Oscar. Neither driver owed Alpine what Alpine was asking. They overplayed their cards playing hardball with careers. Alpine looks particularly foolish in what seems to be overlooking dates in Oscar's contract with the approach "we might let you drive for the worst team in formula 1 next year."

If this proves anything its the fact that we need more teams on the grid. The current drivers line-up will open up very few spots in the coming seasons and there is alot of talent waiting in the wings.
