Proteus - How to Make Slotted Holes

Many larger parts like switches, connectors and displays require slots to mount them properly to the PCB. When a simple hole can not be used, we can create a slot. But what if we want to solder to the the slot or have it as a through hole? In this video, we explore one method of creating a slotted though hole to create a custom footprint. Thanks Scott. I just got my boards back from JLCPCB and this technique worked perfectly. This is a great addition to my "tool kit". Ridiculous amount of work to achieve something so simple. I guess the Proteus team has something against non-round holes.

Thanks Scott, interesting approach. I find board houses are reluctant to do slotted hole pads or they charge additional for them. One thing, in mech1 layer the thickness of the line determines the diameter of the slot, for example, if you have a 40th line it will be slotted to 40th. Most board houses have a minimum limit to slot diameters.

Hey Scott great video! Was wondering if you could do one on castellated holes? Or would slicing through holes on the perimeter with the board work just as well?

Great video! I have created several slotted holes. They appear as trough holes in PCB layout and 3D Visualizer, but in the Gerber view they are just pads :(
