The Parlay is also taken place on a sandbar, which is a temporary landmass so it doesn't even count as Dry Land. So whoever thought up the idea of having him stand in a bucket of water while on a sandbar took into account his curse and thought of loopholes to get around it. Also if you notice there is a trail of smaller buckets leading up to the big tub he's standing in, so he stepped from one to the other to get to the tub.
The sandbar is also neutral ground to the Pirates, Davey, and the EITC so it is unaligned to any present party.

Okay the tumblr post went on to explain the logic of it working

that beach is currently at low tide apparently, so it's technically not dry land half the time

And when there is water it's rather shallow,

So technically when there's a shallow amount of water there it is technically not dry land,

At least that's how I remember it going

Not only did they put him in a buckets of water they had extra bucket so he could walk from the water into his standing bucket. Just imagine Davy Jones awkwardly hopscotching his way through buckets to eventually stand there

I find a really funny part is looking at the bucket itself. It probably comes from his ship, which might imply he’s done this before.

I'd like to think it's the two guys that guard stuff that suggested it and Davy Jones gives them a look like.
"In all my cursed years, no one has ever suggested that. Why haven't I tried it!?"

What's even funnier from a filming perspective is that this means that someone had the idea for Bill Nighy (who was already in a mocap suit so that the post-production crowd could map Davy Jones' stuff to him) to stand in a bucket of water while he and all of the other actors are trying to film a serious, somewhat tense scene, without anyone absolutely losing it at the sight XD

What I love even more that I didn't realize till know... they built him a stepping stone path of smaller buckets to get to the big bucket. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I also love that the buckets are spaced way too far apart indicating the man had to _jump_ from bucket to bucket 😂

The bucket is great- the fact that there are more buckets on the way to that one bucket he's standing in, suggesting that he just walked from one bucket to another, IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE

The weird thing is, that if The Dutchman had a Bucket made from the planks of itself, and was filled with water, jones could have just teleported into it because of the "Part of the ship" clause.

My idea is that Beckett made him do it as both a display of power (making the most feared pirate on the water stand in a damn bucket) and probably so the rest of the parlay (Will and Beckett) don’t have to get seawater in their shoes with Davy

The funniest thing is if you look at the buckets, they have coral and seaweed on them, meaning that they're Jone's buckets which means two things.

1) he had to do this enough times to have a bunch of buckets around.

2) he had to explain to beckett about the buckets.

KH3 has a Parlay scene where one of the bad guys shows up midfight to try and negotiate and Jack Sparrow essentially says "shut up idiot we're fighting."

Honestly the best thing about this video is that we all know damn well that this is exactly something Captain Jack Sparrow would just casually do. I love that nobody else bothered to mention because "why would you? we clearly all know".
