I feel like this could’ve built to what the last knight should have been, explaining more about how the transformers came into being and focusing on the quintason race as a whole rather than just quintessa

The cybertronian knights are like space explorers. They travel on every planet and they study the culture and society of the intelligent life forms in it. They also teach these life forms how to be civilized. Optimus belongs to that group. But he ditched his duty when the cybertronian civil war erupted. That's why Lockdown said Optimus betrayed them. He's one of the reasons why Cybertron became a desolate planet.
