Was in Rome last year. We check into our hotel room and my 6yo son runs into the bathroom. About 5 seconds of silence then he loudly proclaims, "we have the tiniest bathtub." Still haven't stopped giggling.

I know an old farmer in Texas. He went to Italy on a trip with his wife and the first thing he did when he got home was have a bidet put in his old ramshackle farmhouse. Not only is that hilarious, but he also will tell anyone in town about this miraculous invention. All they need to do is get within 10 feet of him and he will mention it's awesomeness.

In Italy everyone, even children, uses the bidet after going to the bathroom to poop. Avoid taking a shower every time after but stay clean down there. ALWAYS use toilet paper first. A delicate soap is used especially for the private parts and the small towel is used to dry, in fact it is positioned near the bidet. Each family member has his own. Guests staying for the night are given a set of small, medium and large towels (for the shower)

I’ve never used a bidet but I have used a sprayer in India. Game-changing. It makes you feel so clean (and I think the flexible hose of a sprayer makes it more versatile and easier to get clean).

Hahah THANK YOU for covering this topic!
As an italian who's been using the bidet for his whole life, I'd like to add a few things:
1 - we still use toilet paper before using the bidet! Since we're about to wash ourselves, a small amount of toilet paper suffices though.
2 - I wouldn't recommend using soap: it's easy to find specific products ("detergente intimo", as we call it)
3 - it's not just the ladies :) we gents also like to sit forwards and wash our frontal area.
Great content as always!

Living in Japan, I love their bidet/toilet combo. So convenient. You can have them play sound so people can't hear you poop, some have a fan to dry you out down there, some have seat warmers....the options are endless. Best thing is, you can buy your own and have it attached to your existing toilet.

I visited Europe in 2002 and most bathrooms there had a bidet, but I had no idea how to use it. Fast forward to this year and my bathroom was being remodeled. We stayed in a friend’s home and they had a bidet attachment on their toilet. Since our new toilet hadn’t been installed yet, I checked prices on Amazon for an identical unit that attaches to my toilet seat. $35. With Prime it was delivered free two days later and my contractor installed it. I love it and now I’ll never live anyplace without one! I came here to make sure I was using it correctly. I was happy to see I could sit either way and wash front or back! Also interesting to include a mild soap and a towel! Thanks for the tutorial!

I live in the U.S., and we got a seat bidet when we had the bathroom remodeled 2 years ago. Hubby and I just love it! The seat is also heated, which is awesome in the wintertime! I dry with toilet paper, and then the fan that’s in the seat bidet. It’s nice to feel so clean and fresh!

As an Amerian, I have often wondered how to use a bidet. Thanks for covering that for me.

we usually have also two different soaps... we use one just for the hand and face and other for bidet. frequently the second is a intime soap 😉 ..and each family member has a own hands towel, bidet towel and shower towel (if u are a girl also a hair towel)... and if u are a guest? There’s also a guest towel! So every bathroom in Italy is full of towels 😂😂😂 Enjoy

Really good video, I’m exploring options to install one for my wife. You’ve done a fantastic job, simple, clear no waffle, straight to the point & pleasantly discreet too! God bless, Bill.

At home in U.S. have a bidet attachment to normal toilet. But had no idea how to use a separate bidet until your video. Thank you.

I live in Argentina, every house has a bidet here. There are lots of people that use the bidet in that way (after pooping goes to the bidet, turn it on and just let the water flows). But is biiiig mistake, the correct use is: first you go poop, then you use toilet paper and wipe the more than you can until the paper looks clean (in this moment you are still seated in the toilet). After that you go to the bidet, and wash your parts with soap and water and dry it with a towel (I use the same towel that I use for the shower). You have to dry your parts just with small touches not rubbing. And that's all.

From the Caribbean, and growing up, Bidet were common bathroom fixtures ( in middle and upper-class homes)..Back then most Caribbean territories were British colonies, hence the bathroom was designed differently. All of our bathroom and building products came from England, France, or Italy.. Brands like Armitage Shanks, and Twyfords were common.
Then post-independence, everything switched from imperial to US, and brands like American Standard, Kholer, and Moen became popular and the bidet became obsolete. Interestingly, British fixtures were incompatible with US plumbing standards.
That said, in my opinion, a bidet is actually the more sanitary option for both sexes, to toilet paper.

Ok thanks, so in the UK most homes don't have inbuilt bidets unless yr very wealthy & probably 5* hotels have them.I purchased what I call a baby bidet from Amazon.Basically just a bottle with a long spout & spray head.So simple yet soo effective ladies.☺️ One the best things I ever bought.

As an american, I always wondered how these actually worked but was afraid to ask LOL. I love the idea of being able to use it for several purposes if you know what I mean! I was literally laughing out loud when you washed your hands. I don't think I would have thought of that; I would have finished there and then went to the sink to wash your hands. Perhaps kids could just use the bidet to wash hands, brush teeth, etc rather than dealing with the whole step-stool thing LOL.

Best thing after ‘bedroom activity’ too. Greatly reduces UTI’s. (I’m surprised no one else has said this…)

As a woman I can add another way to use a bidet (even if it’s not the usual way): if you tore while giving birth, use a bidet with running water going over your nether regions while peeing, it really lessens the burning.

I’m in Italy right now and was so confused how to use without pressure like the tushy 2.0 in the states. Thank you for showing me the way. I didn’t realize you just use your hand then wash your hands. Wow. Life changing
