An in-depth look at ecoRoute on a Nuvi 1490

This video goes through the complete process of pairing an ecoRoute HD cable with a Garmin nuvi 1490.

The ecoRoute menu has 8 sub-menus; At The Pump, ecoChallenge, Fuel Economy, Diagnostics, Tips, Gauges, Mileage Report and Vehicle Profile.
The first step is to set up the vehicle profile with specific data for local gas prices and your vehicle's fuel consumption, to monitor fuel economy.
Next is to pair the HD cable with the GPS, which is done via the HD connection button on the ecoRoute menu screen. Once paired, the HD cable will send diagnostic data and gauge information directly to the GPS to view on screen.
Now you can set up an ecoChallenge to become a more "green" driver. The unit will take braking, speeding and extended route options into account when determining you eco-rating. A green ecoChallenge icon on the map screen idicates ecofriendly driving habits, yellow means you're doing OK - room for improvement, and red shows that you need to brush up on your eco skills.
The ecoRoute cable is compatible with most of Garmin's bluetooth enabled vehicle navigators, such as the nuvi series (13xx and newer), the dezl/zumo lines and the latest RV models.
