I feel like one of the main reasons Brainiac 5, at least this iteration, didn't end up like the other Brainiac clones (and, yeah, for the record Brainiac 5 is a clone, an entirely separate entity from the original who isn't even evil) is because he's the only one who allowed himself to have genuine *human* connections. Particularly with Supergirl.

Their relationship started with animosity to say the least. They basically couldn't stand each other, but over time they actually got to know and respect each other, eventually becoming friends and even a couple. It took a while, it wasn't "efficient" or "logical" as the original Brainiac would have put it, but its *genuine*
