The Complete History of The XBox, including everything you need to know about the original xbox, through the xbox one, 360 and now the upcoming Series X! Including games, tech specs, controllers and more! Let's not forget Master Chief!

It was the dawn of a new millenium. The name “XBox” is now synonymous with the world of gaming, but Bill Gates and his computer crew had a long journey to win over the hearts of gamers and present a console family that will expand with the launch of the XBox Series X.

After over a decade of competition between Sega and Nintendo -- a new company was entering the console wars: Microsoft. Gamers didn’t know what to think at first. Sony had found a lot of success with the original Playstation, but so many other companies have come and gone with their attempts at a new home console. Just a few years earlier, the Sega Dreamcast launched and effectively ended Sega’s long run in console development. There was even a point in the mid-90’s, where Microsoft rival Apple helped fund and release the Apple Bandai Pippin, a failed home console which failed to move very many units. So when rumors began sprouting up in the late 90’s about a home console from Microsoft, fans were naturally leery. Watch to see how the Xbox evolved over the years and learn about some of their biggest mistakes along the way including a Kinect disaster!

How did the XBox One launch almost shut down the whole Microsoft gaming division? And how exactly did Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson help influence his millions -- and millions -- of fans to purchase the original console? Well, we have your answers as we take a journey through the complete XBox history.

SO cannot wait wait to get my hands on the Series X, because even if I'm not going to own one immediately when they come out, I really want to see their potential when I try one out in store.

Is it true that the new xbox can play any generation of games, for example if I had an original Xbox game and I had a Xbox 360 game, would it work on this new Xbox.

Not everyone has a problem with removable batteries and battery packs. It gives XBOX players an economic advantage. Rather than trash the whole controller cause the battery no longer charges, we can spend as little as $10 for a new pack and not have to shell out $50+ for a whole new controller.

Owned every Xbix generation. Love my XOneX! Can't wait for the Series-X. I think this could be the last console generation. With Xcloud, in 7-10 years, everything will be cloud.

I don’t mind the disposable battery option because look at it like this.

When a PlayStation controller stops taking a charge, you have to spend $60 plus tax to buy another one. With an Xbox controller, if the batteries stop working, you spend $4 to $6 plus tax on a four pack of AA batteries to replace them. Plus you have the option of getting the charging kit which runs about $15 to $20 plus tax. As well as the option to get rechargeable batteries and a battery charger which would run you about $20 to $25 plus tax.

When you think of it like this, the disposable battery option isn’t as annoying.

What's the minimal charge for Xbox one to series X? I only heard MS say you should only buy your game once. And get the series X version when you play it their. Third parties like EA and Activision will be greedy and make you pay, but they sell loot boxes so what do you expect.

The disposable batteries are a good thing. I’ve had my controller for almost 7 years on only 4 rechargeable batteries. Almost 7 freaking years, and they last longer than the PS4 wireless controller. In the end I’ll get both consoles, but I’m leaning towards the Xbox first... I guess it will depend on the games.
