Chick Corea Elektric Band live Live at the Munich Philharmonie, 1987
ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
One of the pioneers of electric fusion brings a riot of colour to the stage.
Along with Joe Zawinul and Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea was a member of the holy trinity of keyboard players to emerge from the historic early ‘70s Electric Miles sessions. Corea went on to found Return To Forever soon after and his interest in rock, funk and state of the art synthesizers led him down beguiling polychrome paths over the next decade.
That continued into the 80s with a new group, the Elektric Band, which unveiled fresh talents such as drummer Dave Weckl and bass guitarist John Patitucci. The latter’s six-string axe brought a hefty low end to songs that were also defined by Corea’s trademarked winding melodies and driving Latin rhythms.
