The Bass Walk: Abraham Laboriel

Abraham Laboriel is one of the world’s greatest bass players according to Paul McCartney. A lot of musicians must agree because he is the most recorded bass player of all time. I got Abraham, Pee Wee Hill & some other great musician friends to record this sort of dueling basses jazz funk grove for me so I could capture on video Abe’s amazing talents. The Bass Walk is a tune inspired by a little riff Abe played on a record in the 70’s that has since been sampled and incorporated into dozens of rap songs.

When all the high school music teachers in your school district have a jam session after school.

The two bass dudes have other-wordly playing ability! And within the context of the music itself, they're barely even showing off, they're just grooving with it as great bassists so often love to do. This is *extreme* chops, kids :)

Wow! Master Laboriel, the greatest pride of Mexico. When God created the electric bass, He said, "This instrument is for my favorite son, Abraham..."

Reminds me of these old neighbor we used to have. Every weekend, their old friends gather and jam over Barbicue. Them old folks know how to rock!

Edit: After a year, I just learned that most of them were retired music teachers and used to play at district meets. The last one of them died yesterday. Mr. Eno, you will surely be missed. You will be rocking with your buddies now.

The drummer in this video is Bill Maxwell...I played a session with him in Atlanta in 2007...he had tons of stories about Abe, and I enjoyed every single one of them...

What a joy ! These people are in the zone ! Did you see how closely they are listening to and watching one another.
They are one. This is an antidote for much of the negativity and division we see in this world. Also congratulations
for the ones who registered this. Audiophile sound. Off course, this music deserves nothing less.
