The 400i was supposed to be an explorer/ touring ship. With Origin's smaller ships being at near top end for speed, the expectation of the 400i being a fast ship has not materialized. The coming reduction in shield health from component changes hurts the 400i value which is already hampered with a small cargo capacity and very limited vehicle carrying beyond a single X1/ Pulse and probably Ranger motorcycle when that comes along. It's near peer ships, the MSR, Corsair, and several constellation variants, deliver more cargo capacity and variety as well as much better quantum range. Unless CIG can find a way to give the 400i a niche of it's own to be in like speed, range or something else that is desirable beyond looks, it is just inferior to multiple ships in it's size/ price range to make it a recommendation at the current time.

The 400i is such a pretty ship - Its a shame it gets nerfs almost every patch.

This is one ship that has so fallen way short of the promises CIG gave us.
Hoping someday soon it has its day to shine

I'm hoping CIG get round to making a 415i, 425i and 450i, the ship needs some love

The 400i is my drug running ship of choice. She just needs a maneuverability and speed buff and she’s perfect.

they need to give this ship another pass

I really like the 400i - but the lack of heavy guns and very limited cargo space make it a really hard sell - which sucks, because the interior is amazing.

Honestly I just really like the way the 400i looks

The 400i has been my daily driver since Luminalia 2951. It's been a great ship for most game loops. I'd put my Nox Kue, X1-Force (with Lightstrike I), or Pulse up front, and a Blue Steel STV in back. The portside airlock made EVA easy. The grand staircase was unbeatable. The suit lockers and weapon racks were superb. I could dogfight Sentinels at JT. I could land _inside_ most settlements. About the only thing I couldn't do easily was solo VHRTs and ERTs. And it was *_fast._* In space, other than the Mercury, Herald, and a handful of fighters, there were few that could keep up with it. In atmo, it was only the Herald and a few fighters. Being able to fly a 3-person crewed ship at fighter speeds in atmo was wonderful.

But... it's in a bad place right now. All of its "competitors" now have S3 shields. They all have similar component loadouts. They all have better pilot weapons and turret coverage. They all have larger cargo holds and can carry an Ursa. They all fly similar or faster in space and in atmo. They all have similar or better pitch/yaw/roll rates. The 400i has nothing more going for it _except_ its looks.

Luckily, it is still a _fine_ looking ship. I usually take it out with the Penumbra paint, but I also have the Meridian, Fortuna, and Auspicious Red Dragon for it. They're all beautiful.

Back when this ship was blazing fast, it was a wonderful daily driver, but the MM speed nerf didn't do her any favors. The subsequent nerfs just did the final blow.

The 400i was the first stand alone ship I decided to buy, think the excitement got to me when it was released. It’s a bit rubbish, under gunned, hardly any storage and the x1 bay that was unused as the thing hadn’t even been released! It also became the first ship I melted 😊

400i is a blast to fly I truly do love mine despite there are ships that are “better”

I'm a MSR lover and never thought about having a 400i just because of its only beauty. But, as I started flying one... its so... sheesh I love both! XD

A fair estimation of the 400i's current, mysterious state. I also agree with you profoundly regarding the suggested X-1 inclusion... particularly after removing the 400i's vaunted redundancy. It'd be a respectable apology. Still holding on to mine, hoping there's light at the end of the tunnel. Great stuff, BN! 😉👍

The 400i reminds me of the yacht I had in Star Wars: Galaxies, for that reason alone, I'd love to have one in my fleet. It is a beautiful ship, definitely a show piece! Most of my fleet is industrial/functional, and at the moment, I just can't justify it...

As an MSR fanboy, I am no stranger to nerfs. The 400i is a pleasure to fly. It doesn't carry much, however, and that cuts into its versatility. Still a pretty ship though

The 400i is a lower-cost, entry-level yacht for the up-and-coming citizen of the 'verse. It isn't a work horse, it's a party barge you take your friends caving in. I really think it's well-designed for its role.

It's a fantastic looking ship. My only complaint is, other than the cockpit, the windows are useless as they are blocked (in the bedrooms) and the floor in the holo room is too low. You can't look out the windows and see the planets surface, they really need to raise the floor . This would not only give you a view equal to the one you get looking out the side windows of the PHOENIX, but it would raise the ceiling enough in the cargo bay below, allowing you to put a ROC or ORIGIN G-12 in there.

I think you pretty much nailed this one. With the understanding that CIG could do so many things for 400 series that could make this video mostly obsolete in less than a year. First would be to _make_ it a series. Tune the "i" for "investigations". Then make others that are more tuned for other things. Including an inferred "S" version for "smuggling". I've said it before, this would make a pretty kick-ass Lando-style smuggler.
