The Devious Decoder Card... It's Finally (Almost) Here!

There are still a few seats left in our Black Hat class, if you've got training budget...

... with them moving the event to a Virtual platform this year, it's just about the cheapest way to ever take a Black Hat course, since there are no costs for your airfare, hotel, and so forth. And this year's class now includes a much larger equipment kit for each of our students, since we are bringing our entire hands-on experience (both the physical penetration materials as well as the electronic access control and RFID gear!) to you wherever you are in the world.

If you're looking for the Devious Decoder Card just by itself, I imagine it will show up on Red Team Tools in the coming months...

It was a hard "no" after seeing the price of the training. But then I saw participants get a CH751 key and now I have to reconsider! :)

I always love the little extra bits. Cursing your former self for LPL convincing you to make a trap pin was great.

I wish I could afford that training and I will definitely get the card when it is available. Seeing the card in the video, I have one suggestion - some people are not as good at following imaginary lines to be able to see the numbers that are far away. Could you print tick-marks next to each slot to make it easier to follow?

I think if I did it, I'd swap from the flat steps to v-notches for each pin size. The trade off for ease of use (being able to just slide the pin back and forth until it was tight) would make it less likely to screw up a measurement because I was holding it cocked to one side. Basically you'd have it interfacing like with the cuts on an actual key. For master pins, obviously it wouldn't work since they're flat on both sides.

The "Master" on the Lab 5-in-1 cards is actually Dexter from the period in the 70s-80s when Dexter was Master/Dexter.

Very happy to hear the gauge card will come out soon; I’ve been looking forward to it since you first mentioned it in earlier videos. Thanks to you and Andy for working on making this available 😊

I have always used the Lab decoder and ran into the master lock decoding issue when trying to decode a master lock M1 4 pin key. Apparently master uses a different system with their 5 pin locks and 4 pin locks IIRC. I purchased a separate master key decoder for 4 pin locks and it works great. I carry decoders daily and MUST MUST have your card for my kit. As soon as I saw this I nearly wept because I have been looking for something like this forever. Please please let me get my hands on one for my kit. This is just so fantastic. I can't believe it.

You're the personification of everything I like about locksport! Sharing knowledge, taking things apart, always communicating a genuine personal passion in whatever you're presenting. Other locksport celebrities might make it look easy or challenging or humorous, but your twist is your joyful, contagious fascination. From the talks to the community stuff to these random projects and videos, keep it up and thank you!

I've been longing for one of these to pop up for sale; for what seems like quite a while. Well, since I seen you show it off! It's pure genius! - Wishing I could attend the Black Hat class, but.. alas no.

This is SO cool! Awesome that this kind of tool will finally be (relatively) easily available. Now all you need is to make a Deviant Decoder Ring too!😉❤ Maybe an electronic control for a rotation tool for safes? But with a smaller wheel, less detail, so...😅 I'll let you figure out what to use it for!😂

Yes! Deviant Decoder! I can't find anything with both key and pin except as a DIY. Take my money!!

I'd love if for a V2 there was a way to fit a tiny color abbreviation for color coded pins, or LAB's if colors are not standardized, on the divider between the pin and key slots.

That’s awesome! I need to check out the class.

Wow I remember you talking about this at defcon 24 or so. Nice work man

The bottom-left corner of the card seems to have enough space to fit a slot for Abloy Classic key gauge, could still be implemented? One half-moon sized hole would suit both keys and disks.

Definitely an essential item, awesome👌
Love your sense of humour😜

I'm probably way too late, but looking at this from a user interface perspective, vertical lines between the gauges and numbers on the bottom of each brand's set of gauges would make it easier to read and easier to line up keys and pins.

As Deviant stated in a previous video the files are on his Github and have been for 2 years.
Making these yourself won't be hard if you have access to the tools. I'd recommend lasercut 0.5mm delrin.
PCB production is a good choice. These days you can get full solder masks.
Check the tolerances of the fabrication house before ordering.
Cutout tolerance is often +/-0, 2mm and could make it useless for exact measurements.
You can always order more and throw everything out that's not within reasonable spec.
