My daughter and her husband were sucked up in a tornado about 2 months ago, they lost everything and were hospitalized. He threw himself on top of her and ended up with 5 broken ribs, She had bruised brain, fractured ribs, and broken arm, cuts and stitches. Tornado’s are no joke.

I’ve been in a tornado. Definitely take them seriously. You don’t need to have a panic attack but you need to pay attention. Especially you want to stay away from glass.

I'm from Texas and have spent my fair share of days hiding in a bathtub or sheltering underground. You guys did well. I have had many friends lose their houses or knew of others who passed away because they did not shelter in time.

Been there. In Oklahoma. There was so much glass everywhere in our hotel, including all 4 sides of the indoor pool right off the lobby. We found one place under some low stairs and one interior janitor closet. The power went out and after the tornado went by, which it DID, the manager gave everyone candles on ashtrays and asked us to please not burn down his hotel. There was no basement and certainly not enough room for all the guests in those 2 places. Many just stayed in their rooms, closed the curtains and sat on the floor between the beds.

I live in Chicago (West Loop) and that night was crazy. Huge trees fell over and street signs were flying around all over the place

Y'all are awesome! I appreciate that you took the time to record your experience. We get those types of weather related reports here in NC all the time this time of year. Keep up the great work.

Luv Sarah being concerned about the dogs out there. It must be terrifying though. I live on the Gold Coast in Australia and we had one here last year and it was just unbelievable. I would be scared too.

Welcome to Chicago! I'm in the suburbs. Usually we get a few tornado warning a year. I'm sorry you are experiencing these bad storms while you are visiting. Hope you can have a wonderful time exploring the city the other days you are here.❤

Always go to a room with no windows or go into a closet or something❤

Use stairs the next time you are in that situation and go to the lowest point of the building you're in, if no basement or stairwell with no windows, get into the most interior room with no windows, like a bathroom, or closet etc. Stay away from windows.

Sarah is visibly scared but Carlo is always prepared bringing things she likes to eat or drink and helps to keep her calm. He should be canonized when he passes..

Unrelated, but the Patriots shirt on Carlo is a good look. He's becoming a true Bostonian.

Glad you guys are okay. I've lived in the Midwest for 40 years and even a few years down in Texas as a child and I can tell you it is something you get used to, sorta. But I do have a weather radio so I always have a heads up. The ones I hate the most are when I'm sleeping. Those storms you just went through are heading my way. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be safe. ❤❤❤

I am from north Texas. We love thunderstorms. The louder the better. When bad weather is coming, we watch the news and have scanners. If we hear sirens, we check those to see if it is radar indicated or an actual tornado. A tornado did once bounce around downtown Fort Worth and took out a ton of windows from a tall building. It was going to be demolished but they decided to put the windows up not matching instead of totalling it because a full building of windows was not worth it.

Sarah I completely understand all the emotions you went thru!! The instant fear/WTF & then the immediate thinking of all the animals outside. 😢

Actually....the nickname "Windy City" didn't come along because of storms & tornadoes. It was named that because the residents thought that all the politicians were blowing hot air everytime they spoke.

I live in tornado alley. Every time it rains we get these. Watches (weather favorable), warning (funnel cloud spotted)…
Look and see where it is. I have been in about 5. I am 57! We recently had 1 about 5 miles from us. Nothing here…😂. They can cause massive damage and DO kill. Just know where they are and take appropriate measures. Sirens mean it IS near. Bathrooms and hallways are best choice if no basement.
Now you see why so many here act the way we do.

I went to college with a girl from a part of Indiana where it doesn’t storm very often. She freaked the first storm because she had never seen strong lightning and heard thunder. We just sat there with our mouths open. Needless to say her first tornado was really fun to watch.
