The pressure pi on the inner side of the paper Area has to be equal to the pressure po on the outside of the paper. Otherwise the paper will move till the two pressures are equal.
Since pi=po=force/(paper area)=(m*g+p_air*(paper area))/(paper area)=m*g/(paper area)+ p_air, the inner pressure will become bigger, if the paper area gets smaller.
