The Copper John is an amazing stonefly or attractor pattern. It has a lot of materials but don’t let that get in your way they tie up fairly easily and catch tons of fish. So grab some materials and tie some up.

When John Barr invented this fly, I think it was before the Euro Tightline Craze and its main intent was for the Hopper/ Copper/Dropper..
The Copper John was intended to weight down under a Foam Hopper (Barrs Hopper) with a small dropper (usually a small nymph dominate to the area you are fishing) ..Its a great Fly, and works well for Tightlining..

This was the 1st fly I saw being tied and the 1st one I learned to tie... and that first one took me 2 hours to tie, haha

I don't fish small stuff to much more bass larger trout patterns but that's a good one you can do well with Stone fly's crayfish
