2025 Toyota Corolla FX Edition: Stylish Updates, Same Performance?!

Toyota has introduced the 2025 Toyota Corolla FX Edition, a nod to the classic Corolla FX16 hatchback from 1987. This new model, based on the SE grade, features a range of cosmetic upgrades but lacks any performance enhancements.

The FX Edition showcases several exterior improvements. It boasts 18-inch satin-black wheels with unique designs and black lug nuts, a blacked-out roof, black badging, and black mirror caps. A revised spoiler adds a sporty touch, though it doesn't enhance performance. Inside, the FX Edition features Moonstone fabric seats with orange stitching, providing a fresh aesthetic.

Building on the SE trim, which is priced at $24,490 for the 2024 model year, the FX Edition includes LED daytime running lights, automatic climate control, and push-button start. It also comes equipped with a 7-inch multi-information display and a wireless charger from the XSE trim.

The new 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen debuts on this model and will be standard across other 2025 Corolla trims. Available colors for the FX Edition include Midnight Black Metallic, Ice Cap, and Underground, with the latter two featuring a Midnight Black Metallic roof.

Despite the sporty appearance, the FX Edition doesn't offer enhanced performance. It retains the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive layout doesn't match the sportiness of the rear-wheel-drive original FX16, and the 0-60 mph time remains in the mid-8 second range.

Unlike the previously released Apex Edition, which featured a track-tuned suspension and lowered ride height, the FX Edition offers no such performance upgrades. However, it does provide an impressive 34 combined MPG rating. Pricing for the FX Edition has not been announced, and it's unclear if this special edition will be available for the Corolla Hatchback. Expect the FX Edition to arrive at dealerships this Fall, likely priced slightly higher than the 2025 SE trim.
