Hey Bob, I like the Purge N Set tool. Also your videos are great and very helpful. Good to put in the basic plumbing bag.

Bob, thanks for showing the orientation of the seat and spring, at @3:50, @5:15 !! I wish the Delta brand parts would show a picture of which side contacts the ball. Previously I had put it in backwards, and in a year the thin walls flared out and ripped apart, thus the water could not be shut off entirely.
My plumbing supply experts hooked me up with some thick silicone grease to help the spring and seat stay in place while I put the other one in, and reassemble the ball and closing cover.

Thanks Bob. I have used a long, small Allen wrench for many years. I'll have to try this out if I can find a decent deal on it.

I. Just take a white bic pen apart, cut the white part to use to set seal and the ink part to drop in seat and spring

Installing these in a sink (where washers and springs are vertical) is FAR, FAR easier than installing in a two knob shower, as those install horizontally. Getting the spring into the hole takes a few attempts, but then the washer-cup is close to impossible. I used a small screwdriver. But first I slid a DEEP WELL 1/4" socket over the screwdriver blade, all way up to handle. Then I slid on the washer, followed by the spring ...be sure to get those two in right direction.
With spring, washer, and socket on screwdriver blade (spring and washer near the end) I positioned the very end of screwdriver in middle of hole where washers and spring go....all way to back. Then I slid the socket down to washer, and with a little side to side motion while pressing on the socket, the washer slid into the hole!.... That's it. I had my wife hold a flashlight from behind me and used a small blade screwdriver about 6"-8" long...the longer the I found one website selling the tool ...that actually had one, but for $39+ship+tax, AND 4 days before order was filled. I think this tool is obsolete by now.
