Even though Nike might have an interest in Colin Kaepernick’s message, it’s still a major corporation trying to make money.

Everyone who refers to the military in a Colin Kaepernick discussion missed the point and blatantly decided to follow a narrative to ignore a cause worthy of protest. No NFL player kneeled to protest the flag, the military, or the anthem. The media and others characterized the protest that way as a distraction. Even if someone wanted to protest the anthem, I wouldn't be against it. There are 27 amendments to the U.S. Constitutions, but zero changes to the Star Spangled Banner which still mentions slavery. A soldier told Kaep to kneel if he wanted to protest honorably. As a veteran of 3 wars myself, I have zero issues with the protest. As a soldier who has been a part of numerous military funerals, I have on many occasions gotten down on 1 knee and presented a folded flag to the loved one of a deceased soldier. This fake fury is truly upsetting. Only 1% of the population are currently in the military. Stop speaking for them.

This is a very good point. Lots of companies do that during pride month without actually supporting LGBTQ+ people

I am a white 68 yo woman. I fully believe there is not one white person who can even begin to comprehend what a person of color experiences. This whole thing with Kap is sad on one hand in that so many choose to make it about what it isn't. That he stood (took a knee) for what he believes should be applauded and stood behind. I think we need to take a good look at ourselves and see if there is a way for each of us to start making a difference in a small way every day. This was a respectful protest. There is nothing respectful about how he has been treated.

I get what Trevor is saying, brands might do campaigns like that only for publicity and marketing. But we actually CAN do something good in the world with the right consumer choices. It IS possible to buy products that have been produced in a more ethical and sustainable way and it is possible and important to do research on these things.

I don't like Nike, couldn't care less about what people do during the national I see that these players have the opportunity to bring atte tion to a very real problem in our country peacefully. I quit watching football for a host of reasons, but players taking a knee is not one of them.

Exactly. Nike cant become a suddenly "woke" company just by running a Kaepernick ad.
But at the same time, what does it say about kneejerk --racis-- I mean . . . conservatives, that they couldnt care less that thousands of children worked 75-80 hours a week at sweatshops to make Nike shoes, but when they put Kaepernick's face on an ad, suddenly its: Boycott! Boycott!!!!"

Not every single thing has to be dictated by your political beliefs it gets to a point where you're isolating yourself which makes things worse for you not the rest of the country

Okay. It shames me to admit it, but I needed to hear this. I mean I originally had no interest in fidget spinners, but then I heard that Vladimir Putin was banning them from his rallies on the grounds that, somehow, they were connected with his political rivals, and at my next opportunity, I bought several.

I SUPPORT Colin for his stance on injustices in America. God bless that young man and have favor over him. Amen.

Absolutely. I tried tracking my food and keeping track of the companies who closed American shops and reopened in foreign countries using cheap labor. Then I had to keep track of the shell companies created to hide ties to large corporations behind organic foods. It was more trouble than I was willing to continue making myself crazy with.

This may be true, but Nike has always stood behind people who are fighting social injustice. Nike was, in a sense, built on that. So, I'm still buying Nike because I like the product, and because they're backing Kap
