With other words, it is a microscopically TINY coincidence that we, as a planet and species exist at all, because the slightest changes (more moons, less moons, closer moon, bigger moon, etc), all pretty much destroy the world as we know it. Got it. And here I was sad Earth didn't have rings like Saturn.

Actually, originally the earth had two moons and one crashed into the other (the current one) and ripped off apart of it causing many meteor showers and the vast plains on the moon.
There is a "National Geographic" issue mostly talking about the old twin moon and its interactions with Earth and Luna.
