How to completely overhaul the handling on your OBS (88-98) Chevy or GMC truck on the cheap via parts from 1A auto. In this video I install upper control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar, pitman arm, idler arm, and idler arm bracket all for around $250. This worn out steering was so bad the alignment shop wouldn't even touch it. Now after a weekend's worth of work it is as good as new!! PLUS some huge tips on how to get the most out of your alignment regarding the modification of the upper control arm mounts

Nice video. There are different sway bar sizes so it's understandable that they didn't include all the potential sizes. A tip for other on the pitman arm, loosen the nut and spray it before getting started then start the engine and go lock to lock a few times. often it will pop off without a puller.

Had no reason to watch this except I enjoy your videos, you give good instructions. I enjoy the obs but your squarebody is what I'm here for since I have an 85 myself.

These parts are ok, if your trying to get by, but do not be led astray, after 50 years in this line of work as a tech/service manager, I have installed all brands, on most occasions, the-bushing’s have lasted 9 days to approximately 6 months, have had to replace them on several cars, trucks, your OBS ARE BULLET PROOF!!, so why not install good parts, that will last, OBS are worth keeping, and doing it right, the first time!

Rockauto sells same parts that local parts stores sell at nearly half the price. Have to pay for shipping but if you are getting a lot of parts in one order rockauto crushes prices. And you can get good stuff like moog acdelco raybestos bendix gabriel kyb Monroe.

Detroit axle makes a full bushing kit front to back for these trucks. Even after installing all of it, the common failure part is the steering box to get the slop out of the steering wheel.

This helped a lot. Affordable option For a truck that I didn't spend that much on that I only drive a few miles a week.

Man! You did such a good job on the video. Surprised you only have a few thousand subscribers. I subscribed and hope to see you more.

Put a whole steering and suspension kit in my 2000 Ford Focus and it drives so nice. It only has toe adjustment so I did my own alignment. I threw the wheel off, but tires aren't wearing funny. You can add zerk fittings. Grease the drill bit to keep metal out of the joints/fittings

the price of OBS trucks has gone up so much that its worth doing it right and completely fixing it, I redid my entire front end everything brand new think it was about 1200 in parts. Rides so good

You can add the grease fitting just drill and tap and insert zerk fitting!

This is cool as I am working on my OBS 2 door Yukon. Mine is original but pretty babied 217k miles and tracks perfect down the road but this upgrade looks needed considering almost 30 year old parts, though I am a "if it aint broke" kind of guy, I don't quite have your skills

I can understand if you only drive your truck for a couple months out of the year but as a daily driver, don’t be cheap especially with these parts. This kit will most likely just ‘get you by’ til you can save up for something better.

I believe in being able to grease your front end..I had to upgrade my 2006 Hyundai ..all the bushings dry rotted..it was worth the extra money to upgrade ..

I have the same fuvking problem with my 2001 1500 GMC Sierra 2 wheel drive version. I replaced tie rods wheel bearings all of them all 4 of them. Inner and outer sway bar lengths and bushings. All the tie rods inner an outer. Replaced, all the brakes 100% of the brakes on this truck was replaced, including a 100% of the emergency brake hardware. Everything was gutted and replaced with new stuff. Rotors, pads calipers, front and back. 4 brand new oxygen sensors. The frame was completely redone That was 3 grand by itself. Brand new drive shaft. Tune up spark plugs wires ran new coil packs. New battery new belts, new tensioner, pulley new alternator new power steering pump new lines. 4 new shocks new tires. And I did a couple other things to this truck. But you get the general idea. It still doesn't handle the way I want it to the handling is just not there. It improved drastically don't get me wrong. It's a big improvement but every time I take a corner. There's still a lot of body roll in the truck. My mechanic said my bump stops are all most touching the control arm and he was right. It is 1 inch from touching he said there in good shape but there worn out. Would replacing my coil springs in the front help the trucks handleing????

I wish these OBS owners would include us 99' OBS owners! Lol
The actual last year was 1999, middle of the year was when they made the switch.
