Everything you mentioned, plus the fact that as time goes by, less and less of these are available.

I love Square bodies. I grew up with them. My dad owned several. Before my dad passed he built my 96 K1500 Z71 and bug out emp proofed it for me. My my dad was such a badass. He also built our house with his own hands by himself. I will always keep my OBS. Thanks dad! R.I.P

The 87-99 Silverado was the peak of gm engineering. Durable and reliable work vehicles, comfortable rides and incredible easy to work on with budget friendly aftermarket parts. Simple integration of computers that made it easier to diagnose issues but also not too complicated for older generations to understand. Overall the exact model of what a pickup should be

I own a 1997 Chevrolet extended cab c1500/k1500 with a 350. The truck has been through three generations of my family so far constantly being used and it's one of the best trucks that I have ever driven.

My first vehicle was one. As a teen with no money, a truck and a endless scrap yard to sell to, my 95 went down in history as a low rider to school one day filled with old GM parts I wish I never scrapped but hey, that 300$ check from one haul was worth it, filled the tank and sparked at the bank.

Sentimental value. The people that want these (such as myself) grew up with this generation of pickup trucks. Add in the reliability, ease of maintenance, availability of parts, and pricing where you don’t need a loan to afford one, all drive up demand. Increased demand means increased price. Barrett Jackson and other big name auto auctions are starting to see these go across the block as collectible with increasing value.

I own a 2020 Ram, but I still have my first truck in the backyard, 1989 Chevy C1500 with 180, 000 miles and she still looks brand new. That engine never gave me any problems and no matter what, I always take her out for a spin when I have the chance

Definitely my favorite body style. I used to rag on GM for not changing the look for so many years, but now I see the truth- can't improve on perfection.
P.S. I miss my 1997 Silverado

For me personally I love them cause I grew up in one. Good bit of nostalgia

I think the reason(s) they're popular is because they are extremely reliable, not only compared to other vehicles that are the same age but even newer vehicles. Cheap to operate and maintain. Also very good looking trucks that had a design that stood the test of time.

I've got a 1974 GMC C1500 square body and worked at a GMC dealer from 1986-1996. When this body style came out in 1988 I didn't care for it. It has grown on me in recent years and I'm looking to find one for a daily driver while I restore my 74.
