Helldivers 2 has been through a rough last 24 hours.
Here's the latest in Helldivers 2 News!
We have a NEW Major Order and Daily to tackle vs Bile Titans! Yesterday's Helldivers Balance Patch brought about a statement from Arrowhead Games explaining the "art" of balancing. It seems to have forgotten a few key elements to how this game is designed. Overall, The Breaker, Railgun and Shield all saw changes, and not all of them are terrible. Finally, there is a MASSIVE hidden change having to do with Enemy AI that I haven't seen discussed, and this is responsible for the game's difficulty being significantly increased.
PLUS, there were several Arrowhead Devs that took to the Official Discord to poke fun at the playerbase after the patch, leading to an apology from the CEO.

HELLDIVERS™ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

Nobody is talking about how the post-action screen is sped up significantly. One of the best changes easily.

The other thing is that bug breaches happen so fast. Even if you manage to kill the caller just as it starts the breach is already opened.

FYI Mellcor is NOT AN OFFCIAL DEV. They ran an unofficial discord and the HD2 community managers just made them a mod.
They have since lost their mod status and will most likely not get it back. They were a terminally online typical discord mod

Rely on your strategems. Every mission is 100% increase time to deploy or 50% increase time to recharge.

Something from the first game that would solve most of the conplains players have right now is the ability to upgrade primary weapons using samples. You could add a bigger magazine, increase the effective range, the damage, reduce the heating production of laser based weapons or increase their cooling down. It adds to the feeling of progression and gives players something to do with samples after fully upgrading the destroyer.

For anyone unaware they just released an update on discord saying they are currently working on a spawnrate patch thatll to live in a few days with a hotfix

I have one major issue with them saying dont rely on guns, rely on stratagems. If i'm supposed to rely on stratagems so much, why dont i just clear all the nests and bugs from my ship bombarding them and then send the ground team down to push the buttons or whatever they need to do. Why risk people on kill missions when i can just fire from orbit.... I've also said this before, the stratagem cooldown is a joke. i can load shells into artillery on planet, takes about 40 seconds to load 5 rounds, and i can fire 1 round every 15 seconds, but it takes BillyBob 3 minutes to load 1 shell on my ship, and he's not even in combat with the bugs. I wanna rip the artillery cannons off the surface and take them to my ship, they're better than my ship?!

I was doing solo 4s yesterday
I tried to do an artillery reload. I kid you not. I had 5 patrols SPAWN 20m outside the area and move straight towards me. And then on top of it, I got wiped out by a meteor shower. I thought I was just being super unlucky. Now I am thinking differently...

They need to have a backpack slot instead of them being strategems. Add a few more backpack options and still have it called in but just have a different slot for it.

They completely ignored the bigger issue - the majority of the useless weapons and stratagems. What is the point of the ballistic shield? At menium and higher difficulties, the ballistic shield is a joke, what does nerfing the more useful energy shield do, for the ballistic shield? Nothing. I'm not going to start using all the useless weapons I unlocked just because they nerfed 2 good weapons. The majority of the weapons are useless at higher difficulties. A proper balance would go over all the useless weapons and buff certain aspects, every gun should be useful in a specific situation, at higher difficulties, otherwise they are useless filler. And no, the flame thrower, even with a 50% buff, after testing, isn't useful beyond killing a single charger. You waste more than 1 magazine and the charger still survives. If you have 2 chargers, the flame thrower just becomes self inflicted fire damage at higher difficulties. You can only use it successfully at a distance or against weaker mobs that are aggro'ed on someone else. The flame thrower needs to be a proper AOE that lights the ground on fire fo rmuch longer, and that AOE damage should last longer, like napalm and pushes enemies back, they should freak out at fire damage and stagger and panic and run from the flame. Give the flame thrower a more tactical use. Just adjusting damage numbers all day doesn't make for fun guns. They need to balance all the guns like characters in a MOBA game, they need to all have unique use-case scenarios. AS of now, a handful of guns are good, and everything else is actually a detriment to use. Like the heavy armours, they legit only succeed at getting you killed more, cause now you're a slug. Having 150-200 armour means nothing once you're run over and overwhlemed, which happens WAY more often if you're too slow.

They needed to open up ALL the primary and secondary weapons to upgrade trees and customization, gives the game more of a grind and gives all the weapons an endgame, and let us put those useless 50, 000 requisitions we all have sitting at endgame doing nothing. I should be customizing my shotgun or liberator, finding attachments in the game that can be used on certain guns. There is so much they could have done, and instead they just went in and adjusted some numbers on a spreadsheet, ignoring the majority of useless weapons.

Annoying your playerbase never works out. I unlocked Helldiver difficulty a few days ago and... well, whats the point of playing? I'm at the end game and I'm kinda done. The game just stutters now, runs my video card SUPER hot, and is unstable. I can finish an entire mission, only to have the game hang at the loading screen, and lose everything.

The baseline game is fun, but its running my video card WAY too hot, and is still an incredibly unstable game. Getting disconnected from their servers near the end of a long mission at Suicide or Helldiver difficulty makes me stop playing, them just trying to purposefully piss off their player base even more with this trolling posts on social media, is just the cherry-on-top of making me not play.

I play medium on solo and i gotta say, fighting groups of striders was just like 6 times more difficult

Oh, no, whatever was done to the bugs is noticeable on the Challenging(4), Hard(5) and Extreme(6) difficulties. That is usually where I play due to my level and having trouble finding good randos to group with.

I'll say one thing though: A railgun is a motherfucking railgun because it PENETRATES EVERYTHING. A railgun that can't do that is JUST A NORMAL FUCKING GUN.
