Here in the UK you can buy a mix called blood fish and bone and also buy them all individually, but they are great fertilisers. Like you I use a lot of chicken manure from my own poultry. Great episode again

I always buy the tallest tomato plants from the nursery late in the season for next to nothing and remove most of the leaves then plant them 30-40cm deep. I have even used a post hole digger to get the holes deep enough before.

interesting information Simeon .. incidentally we started using bloodmeal on our flower borders and it works great at keeping the deer off .. we can actually grow tulips again now ;)

Thank you so much for videoing you using blood and bone meal. I've used both of those before, with excellent results. Can't wait to see how your plants do in a month or so! And once again, thank you for a very enjoyable video (I think I say this every time I watch one of your videos!). You are truly blessed, and I appreciate your sharing your blessings with all of us.

Back in the late 1960s, I worked for a "Feed & Seed" farm store. We sold garden tools, garden tractors, rototillers, shovels, the usual. We also sold fertilizer more aimed at the farmers. The area in Southern California was mostly Avocados and citrus. We had one customer who had probably 100 acres, or more planted to Naval Oranges. He would buy blood meal a couple of times a year, usually around a ton at a time. Luckily I didn't have to haul it through town. After delivering it, I had to undress on the back porch and hang my clothes outside. Talk about a stench! I don't suppose your one or two Kg bag is a big deal... :-)

I tend to use blood meal at the early stage of the plant to stimulate leaf growth. Once blossoms appear I switch to bone meal : to stimulate fruit growth. After the winter I give all my hedges a good helping op blood meal : it makes my bushes super thick and leafy.

Wanted to say thank you for the heads up on the Bresse chicken breed. We just ordered some from a small farm. I ordered 5 4 month old pullets. Very excited to try their eggs. We are not set up for hatchin and processing yet. So eggs it will be for now.

Amazing timing for the video! I just bought my blood meal for this season. I use it primarily to deter deer, and secondly as fertilizer. Great organic stuff, but it is a bit expensive. Thanks for your good advice.

Thank you Simeon. I added my amendments to the garden today after watching this. Wanted to do no till but the clover ground cover was just too tough for me as I'm still gaining strengh after cancer. But appreciate the information. The Bresse are expensive here! We really like the forestly vlogs as well. We have learned so much. Glad you all practice safty for your sight, hearing and body! We're still watching some of your older vlogs. Hope little May is still doing well!

Is there some reason why amendments were not added to the planting holes as opposed to a top dressing?

Hey Neighbor, I wish you were my neighbor. I'd loan you my Belted Galloway bull. Love the look of you heard and can't wait to see what a cross would look like. I guess transportation from Texas (8400 km) would be rough on my bull. thanks for sharing.
