Cannot connect TV to remote apps (on my phone) without the TV already being connected WiFi, cannot connect TV to WiFi without a simple remote to do up and down -- ahh the *perfect* catch 22. Looks like I'll have to buy a new remote. Well played TCL, well played.

Thanks for the video! I lost my remote and usually used the Roku app on my phone. For some reason, my TV reset and lost the internet connection. Without this video, I would have been S.O.L.

Thanks for the video...I was trying all kinds of apps but needed the Internet connected to the TV before they would work...which is impossible if you can't even control the tv to set it up...but your vid totally helped

Lol setting up the thing for the first time is the only reason to wAtch this video and yours is already set, this app is telling me I need an ir gateway? I take it you have one of those and forgot to mention it?

Just connect a ethernet cable from your modem to the tv and you will be able to use the roku app as a remote then connect the TV to the wifi, unplug the ethernet cable and your set.

If you have one of the newer Tcl models that doesnt have buttons on the tv itself, and are just trying to get it to turn on, theres a button under the light bar, it will turn on the tv. You can also change the hdmi channels by pressing it again, the presses act as a "down" button, allowing you to choose which channel you want. When you find what you want just let it hover over the option and it will go there. Im not the most articulate person but if you find the button just keep pressing it and you'll find out for yourself what it does lol.
