This is for older model Toyota’s.
I'm specifically working on a 2005 Toyota corolla S

**Fast forward to 3:00 if you're in a rush**
Here is the link to the video I mentioned

Thanks man it worked! Also for anyone having trouble pushing down far enough with the screw drivers I got the latch to close just using a 5mm allen key

Thanks, man. Great idea putting the slot screwdriver in the grooves of the phillips head. That combo and resulting pressure allows you to bear down and push the latch into the locked position. Those springs have a lot of tension, and it it took me a couple of tries to get the latch into the locked position, some slippage and lots of sharp edges, so wearing gloves was essential. The gloves saved me a lot of bloodshed, never a good thing under the hood. Thanks from Canada.

Every time I have to shut the hood again on my 2002 Toyota Corolla I re-watch this video since I somehow forget :) Thank you so much for making this.

Mr Jackson THANK YOU! For the last few years my hood [2004 Matrixx] would not latch shut if it was under 50° F. I did as per your instructions, perfection, Thanks, Kris M

It’s that time of year where my latch freezes and does this, so here I am again. Thanks as always

Thank goodness for guys like you. My hood had problems where it would close but not latch and lock like it used to. Used your advice and scoured off a lot of rust build up and debris along the hook and latch. And it closes and locks in place now.

Thanks so much. I watched other videos with no success on the proposed solution. Your solution took me two minutes to fix it!

Man you saved my ass on this one. I went to change my air filter this morning before dropping my car off for an oil change. Went through the steps you showed and found that the latch was working fine, but the hood still wasn’t shutting completely, as if something was preventing it from going down all the way. Then I looked over and saw that the protective cover for my battery was off. 🤦‍♂️ Thanks dude!

I didn't get the pin pushed all the way down but it still worked for some reason. Thank you!!!

THank you for the video, I have to fix mine now. (Fixed it, thanks for this video, I do not have to spend much hour sorting which one is not working, save time.) A little more help to make it more smooth, I used oil before I push down with screwdriver. I put the oil in that clutch so, it became smooth and I push it with screwdriver and now it works perfectly fine.

I guess it’s a common problem with the Toyota Corolla 2005, I have the same issue with it, every time I open the hood.
thanks
