what matters is context : repent from *what?*
repentance is not always about sin.
*ex: God repented 36 times in the old testament.*
in salvation contexts, repentance is about turning _'from trusting in your own righteousness'_ toward _'Christ's righteousness'._
actually, _'turning from sins'_ *IS* trusting your own righteousness instead of Christ's one.
That's why _'repenting from sins'_ doesn't get you saved at all, because that's works of the law and that's what pharisees tried to do all their life.
To get saved, you only have to trust Christ paid it all on the cross. Nothing that comes from you is necessary, or it wouldn't be a free gift. After you are saved, then work for Christ all you want, but note that your performances in doing so won't affect your final destination.
