How to hand feed a baby budgie (For beginners)

This is the REMAKE version on how to hand feed a baby bird because the video I had uploaded previously wasn't too good. So yeah, this is a useful video especially for beginners with no experience on handfeeding baby budgies of conures.

Although baby budgies love the EXACT hand feeding formula, you may as well try out using egg food; this works well too! Many people struggle with this, thus I came up wit this video. I hope you learn something from my tutorial. Baby parakeets often get hungry and many breeders don't know how to handfeed it. You can take any hand feeding formula for any baby bird.

Tips:
-Use a small syringe (for small species of birds) without the needle
-Use slightly warm water; do not heat your water over 15 seconds in the microwave if you have taken less than 2 tablespoons of water.
-Keep the consistency neutral
-Eject food little by little; don't release a lot at once
-Don't force your bird to eat the food
-Once the bird starts to ignore the hand feeding formula, don't feed it more
-After the baby budgie/parakeet is finished with the meal, dont play around with it too much. Let it rest at a calm atmosphere.
-Using a tissue paper, wipe out the excess food sticking out from the bird's beak.

What to use:
1. A newspaper, towel or a rug to prevent the surface from getting dirty
2. Spoon to mix
3. Cup
4. Water
5. Any type of hand feeding formula (Egg food, Exact, Tropican)

Maintain all the steps illustrated in the video carefully :). If you have any questions, ask me out in the comments section below.

Thank you for this awesome video. I have two babies, one is about 4 weeks old, the other almost five. I started feeding 3 days ago because we lost the mom. I am very worried about the older one, he hardly eats anything at all. I have seeds and millet on the floor of their nest, is it possible he is already eating on his own? The younger one comes hopping towards the syringe, the older one feels like I’m torturing him with the food. I hate the force feeding. Any opinions?

I see a lot of people commenting that you should not microwave the food but
it was not in there for long so it should not burn the bird

we have 3 nesting boxes in the cage, we have 1older girl who will have not allow her to have not 1 box. she laid them in a feeding dish i use once in a while, it is not very big(i have pictures) is there a chance they will hatch, and survive? an if so what do i put in the cage for the mom to feed to her babies? Is it possible for me to intervene in some way(i know i cannot touch nothing right now) but once they hatch, if they do, is there anything i can do to help. i do not know what to give to her to feed them? can you offer me some advice, i sure would appreciate it, i do have more questions, you seem experienced enough that i cold get information that will help me, is this feeding dish to small, what is to small? i feel so bad where there is 3 new great nesting boxes and she can't/won't use one of them. could it be cause of the other budgies in the cage, though they come and go in and out between cages this is the main cage, please help! Thanks in advance

Hi, Fuad! This is good video. But, what if the baby budgie doesn't come to the food even when the stomach is empty?

This video didn’t help because your budgie is used to eating from the hand and my budgie won’t open its mouth

This is like the situation when the questions in the exam are much harder than the examples in the lecture. What if bird is not used to eating from a syringe? What if bird is not willing to eat like not opening her beak or trying to escape...

So one of my budgies is killing her babies (nothing is wrong with them) one of the birds she was close with passed away and we noticed that after the death she began to neglect them. One is in a really bad state while the other is okay but both babies are pecked at. I seperated the moma and babies (i would say about 1-2 weeks old). Is it okay if i put it in a box??

Why should I hand feed my baby birds? Is the reason to familarize the baby with me or is it that they are unable to eat regular bird seeds and the mother wont feed them anymore? Thanks alot!

Hey I have a few questions if you could help me, today a nest in my tree got invated by a magpie, and 4 birds fell from it, 1 survived sadly but, is so reluctant to eat anything I try and give him. We believe it's a 2 week old sparrow, I researched a lot but to no avail. I don't know what to feed it I've tried a tomato apples chicken feed even water and it is refusing everything. If you could get back to me that be awesome
