Double Pendulum Chaos Light Writing (computer simulation) 3

For a full description please refer to video 1 in this series. In this video the initial conditions are theta1 = theta2 = 179.999 degrees (i.e. the double pendulum is almost perfectly vertical), and zero initial angular velocity.

hi, i doubt you'll see this but do you think you can get me a photo of that in a high quality form without the arms of the pendulum? I just think it would be a badass desktop photo lol. Or is there a way I can do this myself? :D

i always wondered if the double pendulum was periodic or not. Like if you wait for hours... will it repeat the very complex pattern in a symmetrical way?

Yeah, luckily I output a final frame without the pendulum arms. In fact there are several at different times and starting positions.... PM me your e-mail and I can send them to you. If you want a higher resolution I can resample them as well. :-)

Actually, just the opposite! There is absolutely nothing probabilistic in this system. It is entirely --> deterministic <-- . For a given set of initial conditions it will do the same thing every time you run it, but you have no idea exactly what it will do until you actually run it and watch. You don't need chance and randomness to generate complexity and chaos. A simple rule and sufficient degrees of freedom are enough to generate infinite complexity (think fractals, cellular automata etc...)
