Redneck Tech – Overkill Cooling Fan: THE COMPENSATOR

In our first episode of Redneck Tech (a series where we will rig up ridiculous builds at the cost of aesthetics, general functionality, and dignity), we forgo the standard 120mm side panel fan for a monster of a car radiator fan. We wanted to find out if just pushing a ridiculous amount of air into the computer would help or hurt performance, and by how much.

someone who thinks that is loud has clearly never been in a server room

I think you guys should do a follow up on this project in the future. Maybe rigging it up to a DIY fan controller.

Use two of the radiator fans, get a cut out of an ac duct, kinda like a.moving box before you erect it, setup your components slightly raised in the middle of it on a something that allows ait flow underneath it. have a push/pull setup on either side. A mini wind tunnel used for car aerodynamics, only for your pc.

If You Have One Big Fan.. Blowing The Cool Air In, & Another One.. Blowing The HOT air Out.. Just Like A Push, Pull System.. The CPU May Stay At A Colder Level.. You Guys Are Crazy.. But That Is What Makes You Guys Awesomeness.. *{May The Force Be With You Always}..

I love your channel. You should try more of this unusual ways to do something. For example, using an industrial pump to cool your PC or wind tunnel cooling or something bizarre like that.
Keep up the good work sir. I just subscribed.

just think of the dust build up from that beast of a fan, considering theres absolutely no dust filter.. just some duct tape and zipties

Were all the actual 120mm fans in the computer set to exhaust? otherwise there would be huge positive airflow, wich isn't good.

Now that was funny to watch. Maybe a push/pull config would work better?

probably have to have all other fans running in exhaust.

What Gpu runs at 99 degrees, my old 5870 with the reference cooler under full load with the fan @35% doesnt go over 60 degrees

slightly positive air pressure, just a tad

The compensator didnt LinusTechTips make a video called exactly that?

u should change that big fan direction to exhaust.. so it can pull out the hot air from the inside

YOU NEED TO DRAW THE HOT AIR AWAY FROM THE CPU BRO

wonder what would happen if you cooled that rig with that fan laid over car radiator plumbed in to liquid cooling system, bet you cant make that work

please make DIY water cooling loop by using car radiator. :D

You only created huge positive pressure in the case but no airflow. Open the shitty case on one side. Don't even add exhaust fans, just make holes there. Then there will be airflow, and the temperatures will go down like 20°C atleast, but i'd say more like 40°C on GPU. Also loudness will decrease with decreasing positive pressure in the case, as this fan isn't rated for static pressure
