Some context since this scene makes like no sense without it

Troy only killed this dude because he wanted to be alone with Madison before they parted ways so yea something like this is completely normal for Troy so in other words he is mentally unstable and unhinged

Madison and Troy are from the same group this bodyguard is from a rival Native group led by a man named Walker that only recently merged with them since the land Troy's father owns does not belong to them but the natives. Troy eventually causes issues and they have to resort to banishing him, Madison is also only in power because Troy is the leader of their miltia and they develop a sort of mother son relationship with eachother overtime but she also uses this to her advantage multiple times to keep her own family safe and in turn allows him to get away with several devious acts she is very lenient with him because he does all the dirty work for her of course this eventually reaches a boiling point.

I left out a bunch of details and context but this season is the most well written it goes completely downhill after that most people only watch now because we want these characters to meet the main cast at some point.
