This comparison is between the Twig razor and Merkur 34c which are very mild safety razors. They are both great razors. The Merkur is in my top three razors of all time. The twig razor isn't too far behind because this razor is impressive. If you're just starting out this raiser is for you. If you don't want to deal with having to learn how to use a safety razor this is the tool for you, twig razor. If you're wanting to get into safety razor shaving then the 34C is a great choice to learn the very basics from. Links below if you want to check them out.

Just got the twig. Two shaves in and I’m loving it! Started single blade shaving like two months ago with a cheap cvs double edge razor. The twig has given me the two best shaves since starting. No irritation or nicks like I had been struggling with my original razor

The twig is an interesting razor. It feels very mild and you wonder if it’s even cutting, but it obliterates the hair.

Great comparison!!!
I pick the Merkur 34. It is just a timeless classic with an amazing design. Looks extremely elegant but it is tough at the same time. You won’t break it fast. Loads the blade without snapping in half or anything which is good for beginners. Has a pronounced angle, kinda falls into it when shaving.
Has very little overhang. Medium aggressiveness. Got to love that razor.
Keep the great videos coming!

If you like a mild razor the Henson AL13 is wonderful.
I always get a great shave. I also use a feather blade. It’s so simple it doesn’t feel like there is a blade in it. Yet a great shave evey time.

Toward the end of the vid you discussed the need to find or use the proper angle for the razor and face. I never struggle with this. I always naturally use the needed angle without putting any effort into finding the needed angle. My usual razor is King C Gillette Safety Razor. I have occasionally used other traditional safety razors.

@OhioShaves what a great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products. I hope the information I sent you was informational? I noticed my BBS the next day after using the Leaf Thorn. The Thorn is underrated low-end aggressive.

After watching this video i decided to buy the twig and try it. Coming from the Merkur 34c im curious to see how much easier it is. You have a great channel.

I read a lot of recommendations for the Merkur and the Twig but for me it comes down to where I will be shaving: My head. I think that gives the Twig an advantage. More forgiving of the blade angle and a mild shave.

Would you recommend leaf thorn for head shaving? I use the Merkur 34c already and I have the same hair texture as you

I love both of these razors, but I have to give the slight edge to the twig for me. Both fantastic razors though ! My top mild razor is the Henson AL13 ++ . Love it !

I'm struggling to get a really good shave with my Twig and Feather combo. I can't get bbs with it no matter how many passes I make. It's primarily my quick and dirty razor now, just to look clean shaven, but I can feel a lot of fine stubble when I rub against the grain. Is it just me?

if you want more aggressive and you dont know already try The Thorn said to be more aggresive than The Twig i haven´t tried it though

I don't mind the odd shave with the murkur 37 c slant razor I do fancy the 34 g ( gold) razor but worried it to mild, ?

Do you need to buy smaller blades for the twig or just break full size double edge blades in half?

hey dave what plate do you use for the 6c, i tried the 5 plate and had SO MUCH blade feel it was really uncomfortable. but im new to that razor only shaved with it a few times.

merkur 34c is my daily driver. so smooth, so effortless, so comfortable. my all-time fav razor hands down.

nice video!

Like your videos, thanks. Have you tried the Muhle Rocca? That Twig has peaked my interest, always wanted to try a single edge.

Any tips for shaving between the lips and the chin? Mine dips in a lot, and while I can go from lip to chin following the curves, when I try doing my second and third passes I find it hard to get into that area since the blade is flat
