Go with 6c or 6s. The versatility of an adjustable razor makes it a winner in my book. T2 also a fine option.

Just had a beautifully smooth shave with my Titanium Winning and astra green blade.

Keep up the good work, David!

Nice list. I have 2 of the 5. If I were to get a new razor and I have saved enough money for it, it'll probably be the T2 SS

IMO the Henson is by a mile the best option for beginners. I now shave with a straight razor but when I’m in a rush my Henson is a lifesaver as it forces you to use the correct angle

I have 3 of your top 5. Merkur 34C, Twig and Rockwell 6C Gunmetal. Rockwell is my favorite with the Merkur 34C and Merkur Futur right behind it. Your videos got me into the 6C. I also used your code. Thanks my man!

Also my favorite de blade is Persona made in USA. I use Leaf preshave oil as well. Astra Blades are good too. I love Wilkinson Sword Classic blades.

I’ve tried a bunch over about 5years. I would say Henson AL+ is a good place to start for people who want to easily get into wetshaving and who typically has 2 or less days of growth. 6s or 6c if they want more versatility with a bit more of a challenge. I cannot recommend the 34c due to potential blade alignment issues(slop due to less manufacturing precision).

Great video David as always! I have always thought that the less aggressive razors would be considered a beginner razor and I can only speak to the t2 and 6s but both on 6 can be dangerous if your not careful. What would you consider a professional razor?

I took the plunge and got Rockwell T2SS 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the reviews. I think I will start with the lowest aggression when I shave my head so I can practice holding it properly. Been using cartridge razor for a long time to shave my head but looking for something more durable and reliable shaver. ☺️ I’m also considering Yates Merica razor, the reviews are good.

I had the opportunity to shave with a Hansen AL13 (mild). As a baseline, I’ve been shaving with a feather AS-D2 for many years (it was considered to be very mild).

The AL13 was very comfortable, no nick, no weepers and I felt like it will not cut me 👍

Compared to my Feather AS-D2, the blade of the AL13 had a scraping like feel across the skin as opposed to a cutting feel like feel from my razor. This was a strange finding - had any AL13 owners experienced this sensation with their AL13, is that the proper feel of the correct shaving angle?

Out of the ones that I have tried from this list (Henson and Rockwell 6C / 6S and T2), I would say the best "bang-for-your-buck" budget option would be the 6C because at $50, you're basically getting 6 razors in one with the different plates. However, if you wanted a shave that is just "super stupid simple" with no frills about shaving angle or thinking about your shave, I'd go with the Henson @ Medium (++) aggression (and if you need to adjust later, you can send it back and get a Mild or Aggressive razor).

No matter what razor blade that I use (mostly), the shaving angle of the Henson always gives me an amazingly close shave that is uniform throughout my face because the shaving angle is set and I don't have to adjust up or down on my face to hit corners or anything. Just efficient enough and easy to manage, in my view.

I've go the Henson and the Leaf. The Rockwell 6C is on my list and I've got a Parker semi-slant on the way. So far I've been enjoying both the Henson and the Leaf and really love experimenting with the different blades. The RK and the Perma-Sharp are two of my favorites so far. The Bic is a little on the mild side, but I'm going to see if I would enjoy them more in a slant razor. What I really need to do is find a great soap. Right now I'm just using the Van Hagen Das soap, but I'm wanting something with tallow in it. Something that really lathers up BIG time that has no fragrance. Also, it's 2024 :)

Shaving the face is a bloody pain in the arse, but if boys and men want to remain clean-shaven they have to shave their faces on a regular basis I started shaving back in the year 1985 when I became 16 and left grotty school .

Don't know about some countries but Rockwell 6c is not that cheap and 6s costs 2.5x more! 😅

Hi. I've had a lot of rockwell 6c, but I'm afraid of the material. How much will it last?
