Half Hour of Acoustic Guitar

I'm just going to jam here for a while...

(note: I don't control iTunes pricing and it's system see's a half hour of music as a full album and priced at $9.99. I think that's a bit silly and on my bandcamp page I have it at $2)

Thanks to Ryan Wolff for setting up everything and filming with me.

I'm using open C# tuning for this so that I can have a bit bassier lower string as well as the benefits of an open tuning. Beauty of improvising in an open tuning is, when in doubt just play open notes! On the other hand I've never used this tuning before so much time was spent in the weeks prior to filming playing to make sure I could fill a half hour without being too repetitive or messing up horribly. I am actually more familiar with this tuning in how it relates to the banjo. It's like haveing a lower banjo with an extra high and low string, another reason why I dropped the tuning down as I'm mostly concentrating on the center 4 strings. This is also why much of what I'm playing was originally written for my banjo.

Tab: just kidding!

My guitar courses are available within the Guitareo membership :)
Also, my beginner course, GuitarQuest, is still available on it's own too

The channel is supported in part by Sweetwater’s affiliate program. Thanks for that!

You should make a video about the thought process that goes into playing for 30 minutes at a time, if you have the time. I've been trying to do this, and I "can", but it doesn't have the same kind of slow development and recapitulation yours does. This sounds like neither one long song nor a bunch of them strung together, it literally just sounds like 30 amazing minutes of fingerstyle guitar.

The last 2 minutes are absolutely stunning. I was in the middle of teaching and I had left this on and the whole classroom became quiet. The slow progression and syncopation. Of course I had to play Chop Suey afterward. Neat stuff Mr. Scallon come to Arkansas soon!

Hey man I just have to tell you this, you are one of my biggest musical influences and I'm sure I'm not the only musician who feels this way. You're music is incredible. Thank you so much.

sometimes I wonder why everything is so horrible, of course there no answer as to why, it just is. so instead making myself sad thinking about these kind of things, I come here and watch these videos. this stuff makes me happy and calm, so thanks

You don't know how good of practice this is for me. Doing improv with the major scale for 30 minutes is helping my phrasing and sense of melody so much! Thank you for this beautiful track, and you are a brilliant musician. Hope I can be as good as you one day. Peace from Texas!

Listening to this on repeat is the only way I get through hours of studying, honestly. I find it so peaceful and relaxing, thank you!

Man as nerdy as it is, I used this for a dungeons & Dragons background jam for a session with some friends. I looped it probably at least 3 times and at about that point one of them said "hey dude what are we jamming right now" and I said Rob Scallon this guy on youtube I really like. Him and the other 3 people i was playing with were like "oh no way? That guys extremely talented! And oh yeah rob scallon? That dudes dope" so apparently we all jammed you in secret and nobody ever said anything until D&D, but point of the story is man YOU DOPE!!! Lol keep it up brother love your jams!!! Followed you for a while cause of a lot of your cover but when I really checked out the channel for real I immediately went to google and bought rain and some other songs cause it was amazing man! Love your slap vids and the delay stuff you do
