If you'd like to be very precise in your load testing for idle and governor tuning, install a $15 hour/tach meter. Then, adjust the idle set-screw to peg the generator with no-load at 3600 RPM (see tach) meter.

Now, adjust the governor spring setting... See all those pre-drilled holes in the governor linkage?

Do a YouTube search for "generator testing wet brine load." Basically, this is two electrodes in a bucket of salt water. With some careful tuning of salinity and electrode emersion depth in the water, you can arrive at a very accurate full load for the final governor tuning. You'll need an AC amp clamp for this.

Keep in mind, you're playing with live electrodes and water... The utmost caution and respect are required.

Doesn't look like it loaded up the power meter to bad
