"The Old Gentleman of Raahe" is presumably the oldest diving suit known to be built. It's made of cow skin, stitched with pitch thread and water-proofed with a mixture of mutton tallow, tar and pitch. The air came in via a valve on the top, and the diver was squeezing into the diving suit through a hole in the suit’s stomach. It was built around the 18th century in Finland and presumably was used to inspect ship's bottom without having to tilt or dry-dock it. Currently it's exhibited in the oldest museum of Finland in the city of Raahe.

Please dont use a computer generated voice. It makes it harder to understand and is also just inferior (lacking inflections, emphasis, pacing etc.)
