The original version of this song is from an English singer called Black (Colin Vearncombe).

It's the most popular song in his album of the same name which was released in 1968. It was released twice as a single and was successful the second time, becoming a top ten hit in Switzerland, Germany, the UK, France, Austria, the Netherlands and Italy.

Black, who wrote the song while broke, commented: "I was really being ironic".

Smith & Burrows is a collaboration of British musicians Tom Smith (Editors) and Andy Burrows (Razorlight, We Are Scientists). The project published in 2011. the concept album "Funny Looking Angels".
