ok - I figured it out!! The plastic cover doesn't go in the opening, but you want to slide an edge of it to pry apart the shelf from the bracket. If you look at the middle tab, you will notice a small notch locking everything in place. You need to be able to 'dislodge' the notch. I used a screwdriver to create the space to slide off the bracket, but the plastic cover will serve the same purpose without scratching the paint. There needs to be a better image of it. It is really hard to explain without a picture.

If anyone, like me, is unable to remove this piece, a key instruction comes from the installation instructions:

"To REMOVE the U-Shaped Metal Glide from the Brackets: Place one hand at
the back of the glide. With your thumb on the Standard, gently push the glide
forward with your fingers. At the same time, insert and twist a small flat head
screwdriver between the Bracket and U-Shaped Metal Glide in front of the
knob holding the glide in place. The U-Shaped Metal Glide should pop out of
the Bracket. Repeat on the other side."

The problem is that when you pull the U-shaped glide, the bracket and the vertical piece on the wall move along with it. Pull the U-shaped glide toward you (away from the wall) with your fingers, but PUSH on the vertical piece attached to the wall, to keep that and the bracket in place. At the same time, I wedged a flat head screw in between the U-Shaped glide and the bracket. If the Bracket is on the right, and the U-Shaped glide is connected to the left, the wedge should should be to the left of the bracket and to the right of the glide, if that makes sense. This video makes it hard to see. You are not wedging inside of the bracket, but in between the bracket and the u-shaped glide.

Easiest way is to just squeeze the U shaped part that connects to the standards (if it's already removed from the standards) - they'll just pop right off.

This method did not work for me. I called Container Store and they suggested that you hit the back of the gliding frame with a hammer and that the vibrations would knock it off of the bracket. It did work, after a few whacks.

Nice white on white on white hardware filmed from a mile away. Good choices.

For anyone else trying this, the cover is used to create separation for the tab in the middle slot. Once this is separated from the bracket you can pull out the drawer frame. 👍

If you only want to move a basket’s position, then take out the basket and the sliding part of the frame (the part with the wheels). You can then lift both brackets out with the U-frame still attached and move them to where you want them. If, however, you definitely need the U-frame out, then still lift the brackets out with the U-frame attached, even if it’s a double U-frame held together by a common bracket. Next, hold the brackets and U-frame vertical on the floor so the bottom of the U is facing up towards you. Place a rag near a corner of the U and give it a couple of firm knocks with a hammer. The bracket and U-frame on that side should fall apart. Repeat on the other side if you need to.

I’ve watched this 20 times and still can’t figure out how to remove the glide frame 🤦🏻‍♂️

They really need to remake this video and ZOOM IN on exactly what is happening. It’s very hard to see. Recommend anyone struggling with this zoom the video in (especially if you’re watching on your phone) so that you can see where exactly you need to slip the thing in

This is actually really useful to know. I would never have thought of using the plastic cover as a lever, but now that I know, it’s actually quite ingenious.

This did not work for me either. The plastic bracket creates no 'space'. I also put a screwdriver in the space and twisted it to create space and then pulled from the back without any luck. I have looked at almost all of the videos on their website. I remember seeing one about using a flathead, but I can't find it anymore.

good lord. they chose the exact wrong angle for this video! these shelves are the least intuitive things ever.

This could not be any less helpful. At least add some notations, something, anything!

I can’t see from that angle and taking these down have been the absolute worst
