Yes, idk why so many churches want to protect men who abuse, violate, cheat, etc. They need to be called out and exposed. The families and survivors need to be loved and supported. Actually do what Christ would do.

As someone who witnessed marital abuse and was victim of abuse too when I was a child, NEVER believe your abuser when they say they'll change. Never listen to those who enable their violences in a way or another and ask you to be the bigger person and forgive.
I saw this happen I don't how many times. My stepfather hit and insult my mom, and the day after he came home with flowers and teary eyes, promissing he'd never do that again. He was good for a few weeks, and the escalation of violence came back....
I build a tremendous amount of resentment toward my mother for staying. My stepfather never hit me (he insulted me though). But I was still traumatised by the violence.

My pastor told me to get on my knees and ask God what I was doing wrong in the bedroom that would cause him to stray. It messed me up for years!

Absolutely agree!!! If a pastor says that, he may be abusing also… or controlling the congregation.

What’s crazy is the Bible does not condone spousal abuse! Yet it’s rampant among the religious folks!! The Bible tells us to put our spouse above ourselves. Not women put the man first and husbands do what they please. Oh no, it’s pretty specific that men are supposed to keep their hands to themselves and also not covet other women! Somehow it get completely ignored in a lot of churches.

Our church protected my pedophile father even when he was convicted of gross sexual imposition of a minor 12 counts!! I turned my back on all of religion because of the experience. I am still spiritual and respectful!! Walk away and find peace

The problem lies when individuals take religion out of context to justify or neutalize other abuses ! I agree with him 100 ! Not only do I agree with what he stated, they should also be charged for concealing crime/Obstruction of Justice ! Mandated Reporting went into effect in the US in the mid 1970's ! They HAVE to report this to law enforcement, and they are mandated to follow up !!

Oh my, I went through a similar situation too.
I packed up my house & daughter & left that town.
I was so happy in the long run. Yes, it's difficult but worth it.
Oh, & my daughter & I made it! We even got a dog. You can do this. You have my thoughts & prayers. Ok?
Now go, find a new church & congregation.
