Nicola Sturgeon has challenged Keir Starmer to commit to investing more in the NHS if his party wins power at the next general election.

The First Minister attacked the UK Labour leader as a "pale imitation" of the Tories yesterday while giving an update on crisis facing the health service.

Starmer had used an interview on Sunday to warn the NHS must reform in order to survive.

He said the health service should always be free at the point of use but there was also a role for the private sector, including to help clear waiting lists.

Speaking at a press conference in Edinburgh, the SNP leader described Starmer's comments on the NHS as "pretty dispiriting".

She insisted reforms to the health service in Scotland were already underway and her government was "investing to the maximum".

She’s in no position to challenge anyone. She’s little more than a councillor.

Her self importance knows no bounds. Yet in reality she’s little more than a jumped up councillor.

Where is the missing money from the Scottish NHS???.

Yeah, just keep giving us money to squander. Scotland is getting record funding, and more than most other UK countries, and still she bleats on.
Maybe if they learn to control their spending, funding would be available for essential services.
Swinney cut £1.2 billion from the NHS, Social Care and various other budgets, that was after getting £1.5 billion from the UK gov to avoid those cuts. So where is the money ? Where has it gone ?
And Sturgeon should remember, she cut the number of trainee nurse positions when she was Health Secretary.

The NHS UK wide had 5.6 of its staff from the EU. Right now it has 5.3% A tiny drop, because if an EU citizen wished to stay in the UK, they applied, and were given leave to stay.
However, the NHS has seen a rise of 4% in commonwealth doctors and nurses.
Brexit has had nothing to do with staffing levels, especially in Scotland, that has seen similar numbers.

Maybe she should be telling the Scottish people where is the money they lost and then as a final insult spent tax payers money on another jolly before she stood down
